Residents blame broken street light for armed robbery in Bridgeport

Residents in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport are calling on city officials to repair a broken street light after they say it led to a rise in crime.

Police say two girls were robbed at gunpoint on the corner of Melrose Avenue and Ellsworth Street.

Neighbors say the street is pitch black at night, especially since Hurricane Irene knocked over the street lamp.

City officials say they are working on repairing the light.
