Metro-North headed to become busiest commuter rail
A numbers report from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority show that Metro-North is expected to surpass the Long Island Rail Road as the busiest commuter rail line in the country.
The New Haven Line is expected to fuel much of the growth, with the numbers expected to grow to over 38 million rides in 2012. All three of the Metro-North lines are expected to provide about 82 million rides, knocking the LIRR out of the number one spot, whose numbers have decreased 1.5 percent since 2010.
Commuters are concerned about the growth, though, saying the trains' cars are already crowded and service is not up to the level it should be.
