New Canaan mom charged with leaving kids in car

A New Canaan mother is facing charges after police say she left her two young children locked in a running car at a supermarket.

Authorities say Alison Ball told them her kids, ages 2 and 4, were acting up inside the Food Emporium on Elm Street on Friday so she decided to leave them alone in the car.

A passerby reported the kids were unattended and when officers arrived, they tried to coax the kids to open the doors, but neither knew how. Police say one of the kids was eventually able to open the window so that they could get inside.

Ball faces charges of leaving a child unattended. She's due in court on Monday.
