Protest held to support Tonya McDowell

Supporters of a Bridgeport woman charged with stealing a public school education for her son rallied outside Norwalk Superior Court today.

Lawyers for McDowell were asking to have her bond reduced only to see the case continued.

Darnell Crosland says the judge has agreed to let him present witnesses next week when he will argue for a lower bond and ask that the case be moved to Stamford.

McDowell's supporters want the "theft of school services" charge against McDowell dropped and they say the drug charges she's also facing were manufactured as part of a smear campaign.
