Security on high alert in Bridgeport
Security was on high alert in New York and Washington, after a terror threat was intercepted over the weekend, and the Department of Homeland Security sent extra law enforcement to Bridgeport to conduct an intense security sweep on Sunday.
Agencies involved in the sweep included the Transportation Security Administration, Coast Guard, National Guard as well as Bridgeport and State Police. The agencies took part in operation VIPR, the Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response that swept through the Bridgeport Ferry, and then the city's train and bus terminals.
Connecticut's TSA director David Bassett says the sweep was planned weeks ago to coincide with the anniversary of Sept. 11, as the Department of Homeland Security was concerned terrorists could target transportation centers.
