Stratford police hunt cemetery vandals
Stratford police are searching for two men who allegedly stole dozens of grave markers from Saint Michael's Cemetery.
Police say about 35 metal vases, which retail for more than $600 each, were reported stolen from the cemetery last Monday. Four days later, a groundskeeper says he spotted two men in a black Chevy pickup truck roaming around and that nine more vases disappeared after that.
Families affected by the robberies say they're disgusted and hope any scrap yards that come across the vases will contact police.
The Diocese of Bridgeport says this is the first time it's experienced vandalism this widespread at a cemetery and that it's constantly weighing new security measures, while balancing access.
