CT drivers get renewal extension after Irene

(AP) - Connecticut drivers will have someextra time to renew their licenses and registrations as they copewith delays, power outages and storm damage from Tropical StormIrene. The state Department of Motor Vehicles is extending the validityof licenses, registrations, identification cards and othercredentials that would have expired Aug. 27 and after. The extension will run through Sept. 12. That's the last daythey can be renewed without being considered late. Late fees for the documents and for emissions tests will also bewaived during that period, with the fees resuming Sept. 13 forthose who continue to let their renewals and tests lapse.
