Total outages under 200,000

The number of power outages in Connecticut is now below 200,000 in the aftermath of Irene.

The state's two major utilities, Connecticut Light and Power and United Illuminating, reported a combined 178,000 outages this morning, down from a peak of 830,000 after Sunday's storm.

They expect more people to be restored by the weekend.
