Trick-or-treating postponed in New Canaan
Halloween usually comes once a year, but with trees and power lines down all over the city, the holiday has taken an unplanned detour.
Mike Handler, of the New Canaan Office of Emergency Management, called citizens today to let them know that the city was concerned about the downed wires, and as a result, the town was rescheduling trick-or-treating festivities.
The task of postponing Halloween fell to First Selectman Jeb Walker after Gov. Dannel Malloy (D-Conn.) announced it would be up to individual communities to make the difficult calls.
Children still got a chance to celebrate tonight at a special Halloween party at New Canaan Town Hall.
