Bridgeport steps up patrols after multiple cars are vandalized

Bridgeport police say they are stepping up patrols across the city after at least 10 cars were vandalized overnight.

Most of the damage was on Grovers Avenue near Brewster Street in the Black Rock section.

Police believe the vandalism was just a pre-Halloween prank, but the drivers that need to replace broken car windows and clean up glass didn't see any humor in the practical joke.

Investigators say the vandals began their window-smashing spree sometime before 1 a.m., moving through the area quickly and quietly, drawing little, if any, attention. No one reported anything missing or stolen.

Extra patrols will start tonight and run through Halloween. Police are asking residents to contact them if they see anything out of the ordinary.
