Norwalk police continue to hunt for preschool thief

Norwalk police are still searching for the woman who apparently stole about $300 from a preschool.

The theft, which was recorded on surveillance camera, happened on Tuesday morning at Room to Grow on East Avenue in Norwalk.

Executive Director Nancy Owens stated that many people visit the center, but the woman in the video is not usually one of them. She noted that it was just probably someone who happened to see the money, walked in and grabbed it.

The preschool says the money, which it had collected for two years, was going to be used for programs for the kids at the not-for-profit day care center.

Owens stated that in the future, the new donation bottle will be locked in place by a metal holder.
