Bridgeport man arrested after Westport chase

A Bridgeport man is due in court for allegedly leading Westport police on a high speed chase.

Police say Marlon Stewart, 37, was spotted running a red light at the intersection of Post Road East and Bulkley Avenue around 1:30 a.m.

When an officer tried to stop the car, Stewart allegedly fled onto I-95 and took off at a high rate of speed.

Westport police say they had to end the chase for safety reasons, but state troopers were able to stop the car in Stamford.
