Stamford couple scrambles for new wedding plans after house fire

A Stamford couple is scrambling to reschedule wedding plans after its home was destroyed by a massive fire over the weekend. Police say the fire broke out Saturday morning on Newfield Avenue, where more than 50 people were inside for a pre-wedding celebration for Fahad and Zuhra Sheikh. The three-day wedding is still planned to begin this Friday. Family members say the bride broke her arm when she jumped from a second-floor window, and that at least five other people were hospitalized, but released. In addition, they say the flames destroyed the bride's wedding dress and a green card that forced them to cancel their honeymoon. "I heard some screaming before, while I was asleep," says the groom-to-be. "And I just thought they were having a good time." The Stamford fire marshal is still investigating the cause of the fire.Stamford fire ruins wedding plansVIDEO: Stamford fire
