Police officer injured in Merritt crash

Police are investigating a crash on the Merritt Parkway involving a state trooper last night.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. near exit 44 in Fairfield.

State police say the trooper's cruiser was rear-ended and pushed into a construction barrier.

The roof of the cruiser had to be removed so the trooper could be pulled from the vehicle.

He was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center and is expected to be OK.
