Workers sound horn on parking woes in downtown Westport
Residents who work in downtown Westport are voicing their complaints with what they say is a lack of parking available to them. Employees also say that meter maids are on constant patrol in the area and they have to leave work several times a day to move their cars.
The employees are asking the town to provide parking permits or a designated lot for their cars. One woman says the parking issue is so bad that she has already racked up $1,000 worth of tickets.
Planning and Zoning officials say they are exploring new options to ease the parking situation. Officials also say there is a parking lot on Imperial Avenue, but employees say the lot is too far for them to walk.
