Bridgeport superintendent removed from office

Bridgeport's Board of Education has voted unanimously to remove Superintendent Dr. John Ramos from office, effective Jan. 1.

The state recently took over the school board after its failure to deal with a $10 million budget deficit.

Under the deal agreed on last night, Ramos will receive a check worth one year?s salary or $230,000. Ramos will also receive health insurance for him and his wife until retirement age.

Reaction from the community has been positive, with officials close to the decision saying that the focus now has to be on the students.
