Blumenthal calls on State Farm to drop deductible

Sen. Richard Blumenthal is calling on State Farm Insurance to drop its hurricane deductible for victims of Tropical Storm Irene.

Blumenthal says 64 other insurance companies have already waived more expensive hurricane deductibles, which are based on the value of your property rather than a standard dollar amount.

State Farm says the hurricane deductibles are valid because Irene reached hurricane strength before making landfall and the decision is based on fairness to all of its customers.
