Drawbridge malfunction temporarily halts Metro-North
Hundreds of Metro-North passengers waited for buses today after the Norwalk River Bridge didn't close properly this afternoon, making the train tracks impassable until crews fixed the problem.
Crews worked feverishly to fix the drawbridge after the problem sprang up at about 2 p.m. A Metro-North spokesperson says the bridge didn't close correctly after a boat passed under the tracks.
Metro-North service between S. Norwalk and E. Norwalk was halted for more than three hours. During that time, bus service was provided to and from those stations. Metro-North says passengers should still expect residual delays.
