DMV lines leave some in the cold

The state Department of Motor Vehicles had even longer lines than normal for license renewals today and it left some people waiting out in the cold.

If you have to renew your license, you will have to choose between a standard or a new identity-verified one.

The SeleCT ID program is supposed make it easier for residents to get into federal buildings and onto flights.

The new license costs the same, but does require you to have a second form of original identification such as a passport or birth certificate. The only difference in appearance on the new license is a red star in the corner, indicating that it is a federally accepted form of ID. Officials warn that these lines will most likely last through the end of the week.

You can get them at either DMV offices or at AAA offices that do renewals.
