Questions linger after Fairfield toddler mauled by pit bulls

A Fairfield woman is asking questions tonight after her 21-month-old daughter was mauled to death by pit bulls. Police say the attack happened Friday night in West Haven, where the girl, Nevaeh Bryant, was visiting her aunt with her mother. According to reports, West Haven police say the dogs were kept in a separate room, but got out and attacked Bryant. She was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where she died. Neighbors say they the attack is worrisome, and that having pit bulls poses a risk. "In a matter of 30 minutes, this little girl was outside playing and eating candy, alive and well," Fairfield resident Christa Swem said. "And now she's gone. Definitely makes you think as a parent." Authorities have since euthanized the pit bulls. The wake is set for Wednesday night and the funeral for Thursday morning at Our Lady of Assumption in Fairfield.
