Volunteers in Darien prepare foods for needy children

Volunteers from 11 Connecticut churches joined forces in Darien today to help starving children around the world.

The 1,500 volunteers raced to package a special combination of foods designed by scientists for children who are malnourished and cannot digest complex foods.

Event organizers say the food also helps children retain life-saving medications their bodies might otherwise reject.
