Bridgeport PD searches for suspect in attempted robbery

Bridgeport police are searching for an armed suspect this evening after he reportedly attempted to hold up a convenience store. Authorities say it happened at the Beechmont Minimart at around 1 p.m. The store's owner, Mohammed Wafin, says he knocked away the suspect's arm and tackled him to the ground before he left the scene. Witnesses say a woman and three younger men escaped in a black four-door Pontiac with clear windows and a license plate number starting with the number 8. As News 12 Connecticut has reported, Wafin also shot and wounded a man who tried to rob him at the same location in 2008. Police say no one was injured in today?s attack, and that anyone with information should call them at 203-581-5100.Man gets bullet, not bounty in Bridgeport robbery
