Norwalk man accused in daughter's death faces judge

A Norwalk man accused of murdering his 3-month-old daughter faced a judge earlier today. Prosecutors say 28-year-old Justin Smith fatally beat Hailey Smith this past July at their home on Highland Court. One of the family's former baby sitters tells News 12 Connecticut that she called the state Department of Children and Families several times because she felt uncomfortable at the home. Smith's attorney says the public should reserve judgement until the trial unfolds, but some neighbors say they already believe he is guilty. "He should be paying for it," one Norwalk resident says. "He should pay for a long time." Smith is being held on $750,000 bond.
