Police investigate Stamford car crash

Police are investigating a car accident that sent a car into a restaurant in Stamford early this morning. Police say the accident happened at around 2 a.m. when Christopher Laria, 23, of Stamford, crashed his Jeep Liberty into the Mi Ranchito restaurant on Hope Street. The suspect was arrested after he climbed out of the car's rear window and tried to flee the scene. The restaurant owner's son, Luis Alvarez, says his mother worked hard to support her business and is devastated by the crash. "She worked a lot of years, two hard years, a lot of hours overtime," says Alvarez. "You know, and now it's stopped." Laria is scheduled to go before a judge tomorrow on a series of charges, including leaving the scene of an accident.
