2 yeshiva students killed in Danbury crash

Two Waterbury yeshiva students were killed and several others are injured after an early morning crash on I-84 in Danbury.

The van contained 11 students, all from Brooklyn, who attend the Yeshiva Ateres Shmuel.

According to state police, they received several reports around 12:15 a.m. that a van had driven off the right side of the roadway and rolled down an embankment on I-84 between exits 2 and 3.

Two students were pronounced dead on the scene, while nine others were taken to Danbury Hospital with various injuries.

School officials say that funerals were already held today for the two students who died in the crash. State police say they are still investigating the cause of the crash.
