Weston FD probes ruptured propane tank

The Weston Fire Department is investigating what caused a 500-gallon underground propane tank to rupture earlier this morning. The Fairfield County hazmat team was called to the scene on Wells Hill Road to burn off hundreds of gallons of fuel.

The fire chief says although he is still unsure what caused the tank to rupture, it may have to do with a work crew coming to pick up firewood this morning. One member of the work crew noticed a noxious odor and called the fire department.

The fire department says that once everything burns off, the gas company will have to come and replace the entire tank.
