2 elderly people escape house fire in Bridgeport unharmed

Officials say two people in their 80s escaped uninjured from a house fire that broke out today in Bridgeport.

Firefighters say the fire erupted around 6 a.m. inside a home on Park Avenue.

Investigators say the fire started in the home's basement, but are still investigating the exact cause.

Officials say the two victims were reunited with a cat that also lived in the home and that the Red Cross is providing assistance.
