Mother: Accused Bridgeport attacker has psychiatric problems

The mother of a man charged with stabbing a 77-year-old woman in Bridgeport says her son has a history of psychiatric problems.
Marvin Narcisse, 31, was arrested for allegedly attacking the woman with a piece of glass as she was crossing Williams Street yesterday morning. Police say he was wearing only his underwear at the time of the attack.
His mother says Narcisse is delusional and she had to take him to a mental health clinic every day for medication and to speak with a professional. She says yesterday's attack might not have happened if he had gotten more help.
Police have charged him with attempted murder.
The judge doubled Narcisse's bail to $2 million and ordered the first in a series of tests that could lead to a full-scale psychiatric examination to determine if he's competent to stand trial.
The victim is hospitalized in critical condition.
