Stratford man searches for deceased mother's jewelry

A Stratford man says he is on a mission to find his mother's rings after she died at Bridgeport Hospital over the summer. Michael Costello's 93-year-old mother was taken to the hospital on June 1 with six rings on her fingers, including her gold wedding band. When she died the next morning, funeral home officials said they were unable to find them when they went to retrieve her body. Hospital workers said they logged the jewelry in their paperwork, and that they have investigated Costello's claims. He says they have offered to reimburse him, but that the rings are priceless.
