Bridgeport PD: Girl reports abduction attempt near school

Bridgeport school officials held a meeting today to discuss reports that a 9-year-old girl was attacked by a stranger yesterday on her way to school. Police say the incident happened near Jetti Tisdale School on Hollister Avenue when a man came up to a third-grade student from behind and allegedly covered her mouth. Authorities say she stomped on his foot and escaped. School district officials say they sent a letter home to parents, but were not able to provide an accurate description of the suspect. Members of the Board of Education are suggesting students walk to and from school in groups, urging anyone with information to contact Bridgeport police at 203-581-5100.
