Tour bus runs over 3 people in Darien
State police say a tour bus ran over three people in Darien this morning, sending two of them to the hospital with serious injuries.
Police say the accident involved buses full of children and seniors.
Witnesses tell News 12 Connecticut the accident happened around 9:30 a.m. today when three people who were standing outside the red and white Hana Tour Bus were suddenly hit and run over by a separate tour bus.
Officials say the two people who were seriously hurt were Asian immigrants from Bayside, N.Y. on their way to see Plymouth Rock in Massachusetts.
They say one of two Skyliner Buses, full of fifth-graders from Long Island on their way to Mystic, accidentally ran over the tourists.
They say the bus crushed the foot and ankle of a man in his 50s, while a woman in her 70s suffered a serious head wound.
Both were rushed to the hospital.
News 12 Connecticut spoke with the wife of the third victim, who says miraculously, her husband was not seriously injured.
Investigators say the driver of the Skyliner hit the accelerator instead of the brake.
Police say they are still investigating the incident.
