Bridgeport man accused of leaving scene of crash

Fairfield police say they've arrested a man after he took off on foot following a car accident early this morning.

Police say 38-year-old Tomas Puebla, of Bridgeport, was traveling unreasonably fast down Brooklawn Terrace at around 1 a.m. when he hit a curb and then smashed into a tree before coming to a halt about 30 feet away.

Neighbors say while Puebla took off running, he left plenty of damage behind.

Investigators say Puebla walked less than 1 mile in the pouring rain to his home. They say the vehicle's registration also led them to Puebla's house on Garden Drive in Bridgeport.

Officials say Puebla posted bond and will be back in court on May 24.
