Construction worker rescued from 20-foot trench

A construction worker in Milford had to be rescued from a 20-foot trench after a support beam fell on top of him today.

Milford fire officials say Domingo Calvao, 53, was hit by a support beam while doing excavation work on a construction site along West Mayflower Place.

Officials say they needed to use a crane to rescue Calvao from the trench.

Calvao suffered head, neck and back injuries and remains hospitalized.
