Westport police searching for suspect in Subway holdup

Westport police are investigating an armed robbery of a Subway sandwich shop.

They say the Subway at 903 Post Road East was hit last night around 7:40 p.m.

Detectives say the suspect walked into the store, called the attention of the employees to the hammer he was carrying, and then held it over his head, threatening the clerks and demanding money.

The suspect is described as a white man between the age of 40 and 50 years old, 6-feet tall with a thin build. He has long blond hair and a blond mustache.

The man was wearing an open red plaid jacket with a light colored hood, a white T-shirt underneath and jeans.

Westport police ask anyone with information to call the department. Their number is (203) 341-6000.
