Man wielding tire iron holds up gas station

Westport police are looking for a man who held up a gas station this morning while wielding a tire iron.

The incident occurred at the BP on Post Road East at around 3:40 a.m. Police say the clerk ran outside and called police after he was threatened with the tire iron.

Investigators say the man was unable to get into the cash register and they do not believe he stole anything. Detectives say the man left behind some physical evidence.

Police are asking that anyone with information about the incident to call (203) 354-INFO.
