Fairfield Board of Education votes to redistrict schools

The Fairfield Board of Education approved a proposal to redistrict its schools before the start of the next school year last night.

School officials say the problem that prompted the redistricting is overcrowding. They say Fairfield Wood, Robert Ludowe and Tomlinson middle schools are all currently over capacity.

It is still unclear whether students who already have older brothers and sisters in one middle school will be allowed to go where their siblings are. Parents, however, say they would prefer to keep their kids together if possible.

Officials say this year's seventh- and eighth-graders probably won't be affected by the change.
