Residents claim unsafe conditions after fatal crash

Residents of the Lake Forest section of Bridgeport say they want the city to step up traffic enforcement after a fatal crash earlier this week.

Bret Cravalho, 32, died when he crashed on Lakeside Drive early Monday morning. Some in the neighborhood say Cravalho may have hit a caution sign put up by neighbors frustrated by drivers speeding through the area, causing him to lose control and crash.

They say the city put up stop signs several years ago after a little girl was hit crossing the street. One neighbor says it is common for people to blow past the stop signs without stopping.

City officials say they are aware of the problem and are looking into the concerns.
