Milford rolls out small-business assistance program

The city of Milford is rolling out the Micro-Enterprise Assistance Program to offer grants to small businesses.
If accepted, a business could get up to $5,000 for inventory, advertising or any other expenses that it takes to run a business.
According to the application, those seeking assistance must have a registered and existing commercial enterprise that employs five or fewer people.
The program is funded through the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development. The city is also working with state's Small Business Development Center on the initiative.
City officials say their goal is small business growth and to keep businesses in Milford.
The application can be found on Milford's website.
