Oldest home in Stamford being moved for new police department
A Stamford house that's more than 300 years old is being moved to a new location.
City officials say the entire Hoyt-Barnum House, located on Bedford Street, will move to the Historical Society site on High Ridge Road.
A crew moved the top half of the house around 5 a.m. Sunday and worked in the evening to move the bottom half.
The home is Stamford's oldest house - it was built in 1699 - and is being relocated for a new police headquarters that will soon be built where it stands.
