Election Day marked the 52nd annual Election Day Coat Drive at Wilton Congregational Church where organizers collected coats, jackets, blankets, linens, and sleeping bags, all things to keep people warm as the weather gets colder.
Organizers say a Wilton woman started the drive when she realized some children didn't have proper winter clothing at school.
According to organizers, they collected about 1,500 items last year, and they were on target for that again this year.
They say all donations go to the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, the Open Door Shelter of Norwalk, Person to Person and Wilton Social Services.
