Survivor of 2007 Cheshire home invasion elected to state legislature

The lone survivor of the deadly Cheshire home invasion has been elected to the state Legislature.

Last night, voters chose Republican William Petit over incumbent state Rep. Betty Boukus.

Petit, who lost his wife and two daughters in the 2007 attack, ran as a fiscal conservate and said he wants to fix Connecticut's budget.

He will represent the 22nd House District, which covers Plainville and part of New Britain.
