Stamford man wanted in connection with wife’s death

Stamford police say a man who abandoned his child at a New York City bus depot and is a suspect in his wife's homicide is on the run.
Elmer Gomez Ruano, 32, is wanted for questioning in his wife's death. Police found her body in their Courtland Avenue apartment, where they say there were signs of a struggle. Her name has not yet been released.
The medical examiner performed an autopsy Tuesday, but has not yet released an official cause of death.
Police in New York found a 5-year-old girl abandoned at a Port Authority bus terminal in New York City. They say her father left her there, told her to wait and did not return.
The girl was able to communicate to police that she lived in Stamford. Stamford police investigated and found the mother dead.
Police say the girl and her parents moved in over the weekend -- she and her mother from Flemington, New Jersey, and the father from another neighborhood in Stamford.
Ruano and his wife are undocumented immigrants from Guatemala, which police say is complicating the investigation.
