Bridgeport fire displaces 5 people

A Bridgeport fire has left five people displaced.

The flames broke out on Hallet Street around 9:30 p.m. Saturday. According to investigators, the fire sparked in a first-floor apartment and then spread to the units above it.

Firefighters say it took several hours to get the fire under control.

Residents are trying to salvage what they can of their belongings, and the fire comes right before the Thanksgiving holiday. Some of their items were seen gathered in wet piles outside of the damaged building on Sunday.
