Funeral held for Stamford man killed in NYC
A funeral Mass was held Wednesday morning for Joseph Comunale, the 26-year-old Stamford man who was killed in New York City last weekend.
The service took place at St. Leo Parish on Roxbury Road in Stamford.
Comunale's father delivered the eulogy, joking about his son's love of hockey. Other family members said they want justice for Comunale.
"All of his friends are going to be there, they say every day they will be there at the trial," said Dorothy Ward, Comunale's great aunt.
A fleet of police officers on motorcycles from a half-dozen departments led the funeral procession to a cemetery in Greenwich.
Two people have been charged in connection with Comunale's murder. Lawrence Dilione and James Rackover are charged with hindering an investigation and illegally disposing of a body.
According to police, Comunale was stabbed 15 times and then buried in a vacant lot in Oceanport, New Jersey. He was last seen on surveillance video entering an apartment building in midtown Manhattan, where Rackover lives.
Both men are being held on $300,000 bond.
