Last-minute shoppers prepare for Thanksgiving holiday
Supermarkets in southwestern Connecticut were crowded Wednesday as last-minute shoppers prepared for the Thanksgiving holiday.
People were picking up turkeys, stuffing and other dishes for their Thanksgiving dinner.
The Stew Leonard's staff says customers should buy a turkey big enough to serve about two pounds a person. The supermarket says they will be open on Thanksgiving Day.
Michele Stuart, owner of Michele's Pies on Main Avenue, says this is a record-breaking year. She says she has already sold thousands of pies.
Stuart says the secret to picking out a pie is picking a fruit that is fresh and in season, like pumpkin or apple. She says the store will be open Thanksgiving morning, as long as she still has pies left.
