2 Bridgeport police officers treated after searching smoke-filled home

Authorities say that two Bridgeport police officers required medical attention after they ran into a multifamily home on Beach Street that filled with smoke from a fire.

Residents of the home tell News 12 Connecticut that the fire started in the basement around midnight on Thursday.

Witnesses say the officers were the first on the scene and that they immediately went through the home to make sure everyone got out.

Fire crews were able to quickly put out the fire. There's no word on what caused the fire to erupt.
