Bethel community mourns loss of college student

The Bethel community is mourning the loss of a 21-year-old woman police say was killed near her college campus in Abilene, Texas.

Casey Ellis graduated Bethel High School in 2013 and was studying social work at Abilene Christian University.

Police say Ellis rode her bicycle through a red light at an intersection and was fatally struck by a car the night before Thanksgiving.

Friends and family flocked to social media, posting that they are heartbroken and in shock to lose such a remarkable young woman.

Ellis's family says her father, who lived in Brookfield, passed away from cancer this year.

Her stepfather posted on Facebook that he left yesterday to go to Texas and bring back Ellis's ashes and belongings.
