Police save Wilton man from burning car after crash

Wilton police say a man was rescued from a burning car after a crash on New Canaan Road last week.

They say the man was pinned in the driver's seat and that both the driver and the passenger doors were crushed in when he hit the trees.

The six officers on the scene used fire extinguishers to try and put out the fire, then removed the man from the vehicle.

Within seconds, police say the entire car was covered in flames.

Police say they are thankful that bystanders picked up some fire extinguishers and helped them with the rescue.

They say the victim sustained minor injuries and was treated at a hospital.
