Metro-North prices set to increase Thursday
Metro-North prices increase Thursday, and riders had the chance to temporarily avoid paying the extra 6 percent until just a minute before.
The deadline at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday allowed them to buy individual ride tickets good for 60 days, or 10-trip tickets that are good for six months.
As News 12 has reported, the Department of Transportation says the fare hikes were needed due to a deep cut in funding in this year's state budget.
The increase has a large impact on monthly pass holders. For example, the monthly fare between Stamford and Manhattan increases from $313 to $332.
Fares on CT Transit buses also increase by 25 cents.
