Police: Suspicious item brought to station was construction debris

A Stamford woman caused quite a scare on Wednesday after bringing what she thought was a pipe bomb into police headquarters.

Police say the woman initially drove over the item on Broad Street on Wednesday. She then got a bag to pick it up and brought it to the station Wednesday morning.

Officers ordered her leave it outside, where the bomb squad determined it was not a bomb.

Police say the item was a piece of construction debris.

Authorities are advising residents to contact them if they see anything suspicious.
